Accident Insurance

Preferred Plan

Sun Life's Preferred Plan of accident insurance offers our widest range of covered benefits. Employers can choose among pre-set low, mid, and high benefits schedules or customize a schedule to best meet the needs of employees.

How does it work?

We pay a cash benefit to employees injured as part of a covered accident. The amount paid depends on the type of injury and related care, based on our benefits schedule.

Employees can use the money for any purpose, including:

  • Medical co-pays
  • Meeting high deductibles
  • Helping to replace a portion of wages due to time away from work

What's covered?

Sun Life's Preferred Plan pays a benefit, based on schedule, for:

  • Injuries - including fractures, dislocations, concussions, and more
  • Related care - including emergency room visits, x-rays, surgery and physical therapy
